Where can you find 'Meer Koet, Minder Afval' other than on the canals?
On this page we announce upcoming events through which you can get to know 'Meer Koet, Minder Afval' beyond our platforms floating on the local waterways and become part of what we are doing, if you like.
Autoloze Zondag, Bruges
September 20, 2026

Invited by waterland vzw and as part of the European Blue4Green/Waterwijs project we will host a willow weaving workshop in Brugge during the Autovrije Zondag. This workshop is also an invitation to get to know the craft of willow weaving better and potentially join us in creating 9 platforms for the waterbirds of Brugge for 2027.
October 3, 2026
Grand Re-Opening, Design Museum Ghent

"How can design contribute to a better living environment for both people and animals? Find out for yourself in this workshop and weave a shelter for birds using Belgian willow branches. You will be introduced to Meer Koet, Minder Afval (More Coots, Less Waste), a project that creates nesting places for coots along Ghent’s waterways. In a hands-on way, you will discover how design, biodiversity and circular thinking come together. No prior experience is needed, and you can work entirely at your own pace. Roll up your sleeves, let your creativity flow and help weave the city of the future."
